Services I offer
Telehealth (zoom) sessions are available for existing clients where needed, however in-person sessions are the primary mode of delivery at this time.
My approach is psychodynamic and relational. I draw on evidence-based methods with a focus on the therapeutic relationship and longer-term change. I believe that how we relate to others, and how we come to understand ourselves, is at the heart of lasting change.
Individual Therapy
The therapeutic relationship is unique and offers something very different from other forms of support. It's a confidential space to explore thoughts and feelings, and to develop new ways of navigating difficulties, whether that's low mood, anxiety, challenging relationships, trauma, or patterns that keep repeating no matter how hard you try to change them.
I draw on a range of evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Schema Therapy, tailoring the approach to what works best for you.
I work with adults navigating:
Persistent low mood or depression
Anxiety or ongoing worry
Trauma, complex trauma (cPTSD), or the lasting impact of difficult early experiences
Alcohol, substance use, or other behaviours that have become hard to manage
Feeling disconnected from others or stuck in repetitive relationship patterns
Emotional overwhelm or difficulty managing distressing thoughts and feelings
Dual diagnosis presentations
The Conversational Model
I am completing specialist training under clinical supervision with the Australia & New Zealand Association of Psychotherapists (ANZAP) who provide intensive training in the Conversational Model of Psychotherapy (CM). CM is a psychodynamic, relational approach initially developed for individuals who appeared unresponsive to standard treatments, now often recognised as presenting with complex trauma or personality difficulties (including borderline personality disorder).
CM focuses on the therapeutic relationship and enhancing emotional awareness and regulation to support a more cohesive sense of self. It has an emerging evidence base as a longer-term treatment for persistent depression, attachment difficulties, and personality vulnerabilities. I am gradually integrating this approach into my practice and welcome enquiries from individuals who may benefit.
Group Therapy — accepting expressions of interest
I am a trained facilitator of a unique model of group psychotherapy known as the Yalom style, after its creator, psychiatrist and psychotherapist Irvin Yalom.
This style of group therapy is highly relational and works with the ‘here and now’ of what shows up in the room amongst group members. It is not a support group for any particular type of mental health concern, rather, members learn about themselves in relationship with other people - how do people experience us, and how do we get our needs met, or how is it that we often find ourselves isolated or in conflict with others.
This style of group can be confronting as honest expression of thoughts and feelings is key. Confidentiality is paramount to enable such honest expression. If you are interested in knowing more or would like to express interest in attending a future group, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
